Aerial Photography FAQ’s

  • What is the approximate time for delivery of my aerial images?
Once assignment is completed, image proofs take from 4 to 48 hours depending on the quantity. All the shots are carefully reviewed for correct color and white balance. Jobs that require digital enhancement or 3D renders take usually from 24 to 72 hours. We understand each project is unique, contact us to discuss your project

  • What is the pricing?
Each assignment is unique. Each job is quoted depending on number of locations and image quantities. Some customers request only one location near the airport, others do several locations 100 miles away. Our business is photography and not aircraft time. We prorate the cost of the flight hour to give you the best possible price. Check our calendar for scheduled shooting days. If we can accomodate your project on the same day we are shooting for other customers and you confirm your order before 24 hours pior to the scheduled date, we can provide a 20% discount. (dates can change due to weather).

  • What specific digital files and print sizes do I get with my order?
Once the digital contact sheets (proofs) are approved. We’ll include a print of one of each selected in 8”x12” 300dpi and an aprox. 4”x6” 72dpi digital file to use on websites. You also get an account in our secure website where you can select from multiple sizes and paper print options. Prints are provided by a professional digital printing service equipped with state-of-the-art photo-finishing equipment. Panoramas an custom sizes are processed offline.

  • What is G3 imaging's aerial experience? Do you have a dedicated pilot and photographer or are the assignments done by the same person?
Although we respect and admire pilots/photographers who multitask, we believe that for professional results and safety, you need experienced dedicated pilot, photographers, and professional equipment. Our in-house photographer has shot over 80 different assignments for telecommunications companies, developers and real state brokers. His work also includes air to air, private houses farms and tourism images. Our in-house pilots have experience taking our photographers through complicated airspace, difficult to find places and they understand the photography basics to help get the perfect shot even at low light or turbulent conditions.

  • What kind of aircraft do you use?
We own and operate a Cessna 172SP NavIII G-1000 equiped which allow us to pin point the desired location easily with GPS moving map on 10.4" high resolution displays. For special or low altitude assignments, we utillize a Robinson R-22 or R-44 Helicopter.

  • I love flying/airplanes or/and I am photography enthusiast, can I go on the plane during the assignment?
During the assignments our pilot is focused on "aviating, navigating and communicating" while our photographer focuses on planning and taking the shots. All this requires a high level of concentration from both pilot and photographer and no other passenger is allowed in the aircraft.

  • What area do you cover, how far can you go?
We normally operate within a 200 mile radius from Chicago, IL (Dupage Airport) or Denver, CO, (Erie Airport) we have affiliates in other parts of the country. If you have a large project we can evaluate either bringing our own plane, using our affiliates services if available, or renting local aircraft to give you competitive rates in that location. Please contact us for specific rates.
